President Duterte signs laws extending validity of passports, driver’s licenses

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday signed two laws extending the validity of two public documents.

Signed were Republic Act 10928 and Republic Act 10930.

The first is an act that extends the validity of passports by making an amendment to section 10 of Republic Act 8239 or the Passport Act of 1996.

Under the approved amendment, passports will be valid for 10 years except for those below 18 years old, whose travel document’s validity will stay the same at five years.

Republic Act 10930, on the other hand, extends the length of a driver’s license’s validity to 5 years by amending Section 23 of Republic Act 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.

Under Republic Act 4136, licenses have a three-year validity each.
