(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte did not vote in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday, May 14.
He was supposed to vote at the Daniel Aguinaldo National High School in Barangay Matina, Davao, where he cast his ballot in the 2016 elections.
Earlier in the day, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte cast her ballot in the school.
Polling centers around the country closed around 3 p.m.
The President was reportedly slated to administer the oath of newly appointed Tourism Chief Bernadette Romulo-Puyat on Monday evening.
Under his administration, the barangay and SK elections were postponed twice.
Duterte cited the need to ensure the integrity of candidates for the elections in supporting the postponement.
He has repeatedly urged the public to not vote for candidates who were engaged in illegal drug activities.
