(Eagle News) — In an unprecedented move, President Rodrigo Duterte briefly talked with protesters gathered outside the Batasan complex, where he had just delivered his State of the Nation Address.
“We need to respect each other..Kung ayaw niyo, magsisigaw kayo diyan,” he said.
He also referred to the incident several days ago which saw a Presidential Security Group convoy ambushed by members of the New People’s Army.
The incident left one person dead and several others injured.
“Shoot me now. You want to ambush me,” he told the protesters.
Duterte also emphasized that he had members from the left in his Cabinet, and that he was “working with them.”
