(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to fire yet another head of office and several policemen.
Duterte himself made the announcement during a Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation event at the Manila Hotel on Thursday.
The media were not invited to the event but a transcript was made available on Friday.
“I am in the thick of firing people. I intend to fire another maybe 70 or 49 policemen and three generals for corruption,” he said.
Only recently, Duterte fired Maritime Industry Authority chair Marcial Amaro III over his frequent travels abroad.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he traveled over 20 times in 13 months.
Prior to that, the President also fired Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor chair Terry Ridon for his “unnecessary trips.”
