President Duterte to send frigate to Libya if 3 Filipino hostages are harmed

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, Aug. 3, said he would send a frigate to Libya if the three Filipinos who were kidnapped by an unidentified group are harmed.

“Magpadala rin ako if they begin to hurt the Filipinos there,” Duterte said in a speech in Malaybalay.

Earlier, South Korea sent a warship in response to the abduction of one of its nationals by the same group also on July 6.

The 4,000-ton vessel, Munmu the Great, which takes part in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden, was sent in an apparent show of force.

According to Duterte,  he would discuss how to secure the release of the Filipinos, who worked at a project site when abducted,  in a Cabinet meeting and a command conference with the military and police this week.

” I want you to come up with a modality, raise the bar higher,” he said.
