(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday unveiled planned terrorist attacks in several cities in Mindanao, as the crisis in Marawi was drawing to a close.
“I’m warning you, the soldiers of the republic, what if they strike at five places at the same time? Zamboanga, maybe Basilan, Isabela — that is what’s coming into my office — and another major city,” he said during groundbreaking ceremonies of Scout Ranger Ville in San Miguel, Bulacan.
He told the soldiers that while “we will prevail” in the long run, they should “remember terrorism is a deadly movement to confront us and our children.”
Terrorism inspired by the Islamic State, he said, after all, “will not go in about seven to 10 years.”
“They will not disappear. They will regroup anywhere and everywhere,” Duterte said.
As for Marawi, he said he hoped the city would be rid of terrorists in a week’s time.
Marawi was attacked by local terrorists who pledged allegiance to IS on May 23.
