President Duterte visits Indonesia

(Eagle News) — After his participation to the 28th and 29th ASEAN summits in Vientiane, Laos, President Rodrigo Duterte went straight to Jakarta, Indonesia for a state visit.

Duterte arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in Jakarta on Thursday night via a Philippine Airlines chartered flight PR001 for a working visit to the Republic of Indonesia from September 8-9, 2016.

 

The President was welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Maria Lumen B. Isleta and Indonesian officials led by Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly.

This is the second visit of President Duterte to a member nation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), following his participation to the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) from September 5-8, 2016.

Duterte is also meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo to collaborate on ways to address bilateral concerns.

His first state visit also included a meet and greet with the Filipino community in Jakarta.
