MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte is willing to hear the drivers and operators’ concerns on the planned phaseout of old jeepneys by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
“The President has assured the workers’ group that he would be holding a separate meeting with jeepney drivers who joined a nationwide transport strike,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said.
Abella said that there is no definite date yet for the planned dialogue.
Drivers are opposing the plan of the government to phase out old jeepneys, replacing it with electrical jeepneys.
They then held a transport strike on February 6, and again on February 27.
