QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Bagong Henerasyon Party-List Representative Bernadette Herrera-Dy is confident that despite the 18% drop in President Rodrigo Duterte’s satisfaction ratings, his support base is still solid.
Herrera-Dy said that the 16 million Filipinos who voted for the President should not be discounted and that fluctuations in the satisfaction ratings of a President is normal.
“But his base of support remains solid, in my view. The 16 million who voted for him in May 2016, I believe are still there,” she said.
Herrera-Dy said that although the recent survey had “not been generally favorable” to President Duterte, this can still bounce back.
“A few or several remedial measures here and there on the crime and peace and order front can result in recovery of those lost points,” Herrera-Dy said.
“The end of the battle for Marawi is on the horizon, more Duterte points there,” she added.
