CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, August 10 (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) asks for the support and active participation of Central Luzon residents in the conduct of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) which begins today.
“POPCEN 2015 is designed primarily to take an inventory of the population of the entire Philippines. It also collects information about some characteristics of the population such as age, sex, marital status, and highest grade completed,” PSA Interim Regional Director Edgardo Pare said.
It will be the 14th POPCEN to be undertaken since 1903 and the third to be done in mid-decade.
“Data collected shall be used by the government as basis in the formulation of plans, policies, and programs on the delivery of basic services to various segments of the population. This will also be utilized to determine consumer demands and supply of labor for the production of goods and services,” Pare added.
PSA enumerators, wearing official ID, shall visit and interview every household to ask basic information.
The interview will take from 15 to 30 minutes per household.
Population count by province, city, municipality, and barangay will be submitted to the Office of the President for proclamation as official census count in January next year.
Other detailed data will be released on staggered basis starting last quarter of 2016. (CLJD-PIA 3)
