(Eagle News) — The owner of the alleged quarry site in Davao City which was referred to by retired police officer Arturo Lascanas as where they buried their alleged victims had long denied the policeman’s claim.
This was according to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.
Aguirre said the quarry site owner, retired SPO4 Bienvenido Laud, had long denied these allegations of Lascanas.
He said he can attest to this as he had served as the lawyer of Laud before.
It was in July 2012 that the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) then headed by now Senator Leila del Lima went to Davao City to the Maa quarry to investigate this allegation, on the basis of a search warrant.
Eh wala silang dinemanda e. Kahit isa, kahit katiting, walang idinemanda,” he added.
He said that Laud before had claimed that guerillas during the Japanese occupation had also been buried there.
Aguirre said Lascanas was not a credible witness, because of his flip-flopping testimony.
