Rains expected over Northern, Central Luzon as “Karding,” LPA enhance southwest monsoon

(Eagle News)—-Monsoon rains are expected over northern and central Luzon beginning this Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA said this was as tropical depression “Karding” and a low pressure area over the West Philippine Sea are forecast to enhance the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA said that as of 10 a.m., the center of “Karding” was located 1135 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, but is not expected to make landfall in any part of the country.

The LPA meanwhile is 750 kilometers west of northern Luzon.

“Residents of these areas, especially those living in river channels near low-lying areas and mountainous areas are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction management offices and continue monitoring for updates,” PAGASA said.
