(Eagle News) – Rape cases and crimes against property, such as robbery and theft, have declined since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office, according to the Philippine National Police.
PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said that the number of crimes against properties has decreased by almost 50 percent, while rape cases declined by as much as 20 percent, in the first two years of the Duterte government.
Among the crimes against property which declined were robbery, theft, motorcycle theft and carnapping.
Meanwhile, Albayalde said the PNP will suggest the use of half-faced helmet for motorcycle riders.
With this, criminals can be easily recognized and their identity determined, he said.
“Sa part po ng Mandaluyong, meron po silang no helmet zone na tinatawag, kung saan kailangan pong tanggalin yung helmet. Ngunit nasa batas po kasi nakapag naka motorsiklo kailangan nating naka-helmet. Ang nakikita ko dyan is yung helmet ay yung irequire na lang ay yung half-faced kung tawagin. Half-faced to restrict yung speed nung mga motorsiklo dahil yun pong mga sa atin na nagmomotor ang bibilis pong magpatakbo kaya marami po ang nadidisgrasya sa atin,” Albayalde said.
