(Eagle News)—Rappler on Monday, April 22, dismissed as an “example of how not to write an investigative report” the matrix article that detailed a supposed plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.
The matrix article written by Manila Times chair emeritus Dante Ang which was published in the newspaper today.
“The Manila Times under Dante Ang, appointed special envoy for international public relations by President Rodrigo Duterte, is the reason why journalism schools and newsrooms in the country should be actively educating the youth and communities on what truthful, responsible and ethical journalism is,” Rappler said in a statement.
Rappler was linked by the matrix in the story to the supposed plot, with the news outfit allegedly being one of several in charge of disseminating “false narratives” against the President.
Apart from Rappler, Vera Files and the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism were linked to the supposed plot.
Leftists such as Neri Colmenares and Carlos Zarate were also linked to the alleged plot.
The Palace has accused Rappler of being biased against the administration, and of being funded by groups that want Duterte out.
Rappler, which is facing a cyber libel charge in connection with an article on a businessman it published in 2012, has denied the allegations.
