(Eagle News) — A retired Ozamiz prosecutor was shot dead on Tuesday, May 22.
Geronimo S. Marabe, Jr. was driving his car in Barangay 50th District in Ozamiz City when he was shot by at least four men around 10:30 a.m.
He was pronounced dead in the hospital.
According to Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde, Marabe’s killing may have something to do with the cases he used to handle when he was still prosecuting.
The PNP chief said the former prosecutor was known for dismissing cases of the Parojinog family.
The family has been linked by President Rodrigo Duterte to drugs.
Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and several others were among those killed in drug raids in their houses in 2017.
Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez and her brother, Reynaldo Jr., were arrested.
