NEW YORK CITY, U.S. (Reuters) — Rihanna had a roaring start for her Fenty X Puma Spring 2018 runway show on Sunday (September 10), with motocross riders somersaulting through the air flying over pink mountains to kick off her latest showcase.
For the occasion, the massive Park Avenue Armory in New York was transformed into a glittery pink sand dune, where models strutted in neoprene, nylon and leather ensembles in dark blue, military green, and red hues.
The BMX inspiration was extended to the runway with motocross inspired bodysuits, biker shorts, oversized parkas, and swimwear. Spandex shorts were topped with neoprene tops, most looks finished with heeled flip-flops. The collection had a strong 90’s feel as well with male models seen in oversized coats with buckle detail paired with oversized baggy pants in different color nylons. Swimwear had deep cutouts and was often worn underneath loose fitting shorts. The superstar lineup of models included Joan Smalls and Victoria’s Secret veteran Adriana Lima.
Sunday’s show was Rihanna’s fourth collection in collaboration with Puma. Earlier in the week, the pop-singer turned designer debuted her Fenty Beauty line.
