(Eagle News)—The Chinese woman who threw taho at a police officer in a Metro Rail Transit 3 station on Saturday, Feb. 9, insulted not only the cop but also Filipinos in general, Vice President Leni Robredo said.
In her weekly radio show, Robredo said what Jiale Zhang did to P01 William Cristobal, who was only explaining to her the MRT-3 ban on food and drinks when she refused to dispose of the taho she was holding and insisted she be allowed to enter the station at that time, was a “wake-up call” to all Filipinos.
“Ano ba talaga?” Robredo asked.
She noted that Filipinos were but hospitable to the Chinese but in return, “binabastos nila tayo.”
According to Robredo, the “special treatment” given to China by the administration probably gave rise to some of their nationals disrespecting Filipinos.
“Maraming reklamo na iyong mga trabahong dapat sana sa Pilipino, nabibigay pa sa Intsik,” she said.
Jiale is facing charges, including direct assault, over the incident at the Boni station.
The Bureau of Immigration said it was studying what possible actions to take against her.
