Roque defers announcement of official to be sacked by President Rodrigo Duterte

Says official is male, and was neither from the ERC nor from the PCSO

(Eagle News) — The Palace on Wednesday said that the person to be sacked by President Rodrigo Duterte was male, and was neither from the Energy Regulatory Commission, nor from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

“I can make the confirmation that the official who I was tasked to announce and may belatedly told to hold in abeyance is not from the PCSO,” Roque said.

The agency is under scrutiny after the conduct of what its newly appointed director Sandra Cam said was  a lavish year-end party for its employees.

Cam said the costs for organizing the party amounted to P10 million.

As for the ERC, Roque said “wala naman pong dapat sibakin doon sa sinasabi mong ahensiya, suspendido na po nga sila.”

“Ang problema, anong gagawin pagkatapos? Pero pinag-aaralan pa po ‘yan ng Office of the Executive Secretary. If you’re referring to the ERC,” he said.

Roque was referring to ERC Commissioners Alfredo Non, Josefina Patricia Magpale-Asirit, Geronimo Sta. Ana, and Gloria Victoria Yap-Taruc, who were ordered suspended for a year for their acts that allegedly favored the Manila Electric Co.
