(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has offered China the opportunity to put up a telecommunications company that would rival PLDT and Globe.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the President made the offer during a bilateral meeting with Premier Li Keqiang.
According to Roque, there had long been plans of breaking up the PLDT-Globe duopoly.
Then-Informations and Communications Technology Rodolfo Salalima, however, he said did not act on this soonest.
Salalima, a former Globe official, resigned over allegations he favored the company over others.
