(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte and his long-time aide Bong Go have discussed calls for the latter to run for senator in the 2019 elections.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the revelation in a press conference on Monday.
“I understand the President has broached it to SAP (Special Assistant to the President) Go and it is something that they are discussing between the two of them,” he said.
Roque, however, did not elaborate.
Go has already denied he was running for a seat in the Senate, saying he would serve President Duterte “until kingdom come.”
But he appeared to have had a change of heart, with Roque now saying that he would “heed whatever the President wishes him to do.”
“He has said that personally he would not run but if the President asks him to, he will,” Roque said.
