(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte will no longer sign an executive order that will end contractualization, the Palace said on Thursday, April 19.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the President was adopting Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III’s position that the matter be left up to Congress instead.

Labor groups waiting for the EO to be signed have threatened to hold protests on Labor Day.

Earlier, Roque said the President wanted an EO that would side with the labor sector.
