(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte will look into what Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office director Sandra Cam said was a “lavish” year-end party held for the agency recently.
“Well, I think you know that the President does not tolerate extravagance, so we do not know yet. I’m sure the President will look into the matter. As you know, he’s very sensitive to what is reported by his own people in the different branches of government…,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
Cam had said the agency had spent an exorbitant amount–P10 million–for the party.
She said she did not attend the celebration as a sign of protest.
PCSO Chair Jose Jorge Corpuz defended the party, saying “only” the P6 million were spent for the same.
He said the event was held for 1,580 employees nationwide.
