Roque: Three more presidential appointees under investigation upon orders by President Duterte

(Eagle News) — Three more presidential appointees are being investigated at the behest of President Rodrigo Duterte and could be fired next.

In an interview over CNN Philippines, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he knows of “at least three complaints” received by the Office of the President.

“He never ignores these complaints,” he said.

He said before the President makes a move though, “he does his research and he always appoints an entity to investigate.”

“..And when I make an announcement he always give me a copy of the report submitted to him after investigation has been conducted,” he said.

Only recently, President Duterte fired Marcial Amaro III, administrator of the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), for his excessive foreign trips.

Amaro argued that the 24 trips–which Roque said were done in 13 months— were “in fulfillment” of his duties as head of MARINA.

The President has also sacked Terry Ridon, chair of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

Duterte had slammed Ridon for making “unnecessary trips,” noting that the commission he headed was created for the poor in the first place.
