Russia should unite as one, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday in his “State of the Nation” address to the Russian parliament.
“Yes, we can argue about different solutions. But we, as Russians, should unite as one, aware of the fact that Russia is the most important thing to us,” said Putin.
Putin’s remarks won extensive support from Russian politicians. Alexei Didenko, first deputy head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) said, in face of difficulties, unity is the way to go forward.
The first thing that Putin talked about is anti-terrorism, which means Russia is putting great importance on it, said Didenko.
“The president has said in his address that the international community shouldn’t have double standards, or negotiate or cooperate with terrorists. Every country should say no to them. The international community should stand together against the terrorists, making sure we solve this complex problem,” Didenko said.
The second important thing is reviving Russia’s economy. Putin said the country is not undergoing an economic crisis despite complicated domestic economic situation.
“There’s no doubt that promoting economic integration between Asia and Europe is essential to Russia. This is the first time that President Putin mentioned this clearly in his state of the nation address. That means the economic cooperation is the most important work,” he added. (Reuters)
