OCCIDENTAL MINDORO, Philippines (Eagle News) — Saltbeds in Sitio Toong, Barangay Caguray, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro were inundated by floods brought about by two days of intense rains.
Residents here however tried to save what they could of the salt from the saltbeds that had been affected by te flooding but their efforts were futile.
Workers here tried to cover the remaining salt, and some tried to get what they could save from the flooded saltbeds.
The strong rains, after days of extremely hot weather, surprised residents here, including the salt workers in this barangay.
The salt that were not dissolved in the floods were patiently recovered so that it could somehow be sold.
Around 100 saltbed workers were affected by the flooding.
