Sandiganbayan orders suspension of JV Ejercito

(Eagle News)– A 90-day suspension order was ordered by Sandiganbayan to Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito due to the graft case he is facing over the alleged anomalous purchase of firearms in 2008.

The anti-graft court’s Fifth Division said Ejercito is suspended “from his position as Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and from any other public office which he may now or hereafter be holding for a period of ninety (90) days from receipt of this resolution, unless a motion for reconsideration is seasonably filed.”

The case stemmed from San Juan City’s possession of high powered rifles when Ejercito was city mayor. The deal was made using the calamity funds of the city though there was no state of calamity in San Juan.
