(Eagle News) — The Sandiganbayan has placed Jimalalud, Negros Oriental Mayor Reynaldo Tuanda under a 90-day preventive suspension.
The suspension meted out by the Fifth Division applies pending an investigation into allegations he gave himself a permit to operate as a cockpit promoter from January 8 to December 31, 2010.
Tuanda admitted to receiving a permit to be a cockpit promoter, but noted that this was not the same as receiving a permit to be a cockpit operator.
But the fifth division ruled otherwise.
“Since the Information filed against Tuanda is sufficient in form and substance, it is incumbent upon this Court to place the accused under preventive suspension,” the fifth division said.
