Sara Duterte blasts “power-hungry” Tindig Pilipinas; says destabilization plot “as real as terrorism”

(Eagle News) — Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Sunday said the threat of destabilization was “as real as terrorism,” noting that information on the matter came from reliable sources, even “from inside the offices of the people identified with the opposition.”

She also dismissed claims her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, was “insecure and paranoid,”  calling Tindig Pilipinas, the group that staged a rally recently against him, “power-hungry.”

Key members of this group include opposition figures such as Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinan, among others.

Members of the group called on Duterte to sign a bank secrecy waiver to refute  Trillanes’ repeated claims he has ill-gotten wealth.

But Salvador Panelo, presidential legal counsel, has already noted that the bank secrecy waiver the President signed when he was still a presidential candidate was “still binding.”

He also noted that under the law, the burden of proving an accusation was on the one who was making the accusation in the first place.

“Power grabbers have made their point, made their presence felt, caught our attention, and we know who they are,” Carpio said.

She added the people who “reacted negatively” to the claim  of destabilization were “apparently committing an act of self-defense to conceal their intentions against the Duterte administration.”
