(Eagle News) — Sara Duterte on Wednesday, Sept. 19, slammed a Supreme Court aspirant for allegedly working for the withdrawal of a case filed against the Davao mayor so she could “take notice” of him.
Without naming names, Duterte instead said the Office of the President should “think twice” about appointing the individual, who she said has been “trying to spin” the case filed against her after she punched a court sheriff during a demolition of shanties in 2011.
He “clearly lacks the virtues of honor, justice, and fairness,” the presidential daughter said.
She said based on reports she received, several individuals were urging the petitioners to withdraw the case filed against her.
But “so the public may know, I have never asked any complainant or witness to withdraw their disbarment case against me as I have always maintained that I will face the consequences of my actions on that fateful day of July 1, 2011,” she said.
She added that appointing individuals to the High Court was “beyond my authority as Mayor of Davao City.”
