The Supreme Court has denied with finality former Senator Leila de Lima’s bid for the arrest warrant issued against her in connection with the drug cases she faces to be nullified.
In denying De Lima’s motion for reconsideration of the High Court’s October 10, 2017 decision, the SC also effectively ruled that the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court, and not the Sandiganbayan, has jurisdiction over the cases against her.
According to the SC the “basic issues raised” in the MR dated Nov. 3, 2017 “have been passed upon” by the High Court.
“No substantial arguments were presented to warrant the reversal of the questioned decision,” it said.
“No further pleadings or motions will be entertained,” it added.
Associate Justice Alfredo Caguioa dissented.
De Lima is detained in Camp Crame.
