(Eagle News)– The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday (September 7) concluded the second oral arguments with an extension of status quo ante order (SQAO) intended for the planned burial of late strongman Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The order has been extended until October 18.
The first SQAO was issued on August 23 and would have lapsed on September 13.
The said order blocks any preparations for the hero’s burial of Marcos.
Before the announcement of the order, Solicitor General Jose Calida revealed that the burial had been temporarily set for September 18.
Calida represented the government panel that defends President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision allowing the internment.
The SC directed the petitioners, the Office of Solicitor General, and the heirs of Marcos to submit their written position of the case within 20 days.
