(Eagle News) — The Supreme Court has directed the Office of the Solicitor General to respond to the comment of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on the quo warranto petition filed against her.
The SC en banc said on Tuesday that the OSG was given five days within receipt of the SC notice to submit the same.
Calida filed the petition that seeks to have Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice nullified, citing, among others, her failure to submit all her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth, a requirement for the post.
An impeachment complaint has also been lodged against Sereno by lawyer Larry Gadon.
The House justice panel on Monday voted to elevate its committee report and six articles of impeachment to the plenary.
If approved by one thirds of the entire House, they will be transmitted to the Senate, which will then turn itself into an impeachment court.
