(Eagle News) — The number of families who said they experienced hunger in the first quarter of 2017 declined compared to the previous rate last year.
This was according to the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) from March 25 to 28.
The result showed that 11.9 percent, or an estimated 2.7 million families, have experienced hunger in the first quarter of the year.
This was down by two percentage points from the 13.9 percent, or an estimated 3.1 million families, recorded in the fourth quarter of 2016 poll.
Some 1,200 adults nationwide were questioned in the SWS self-rated hunger poll, which had sampling error margins of ±3 points for quarterly national percentages, ±6 points for regional percentages, and ±1.5 points for annual averages.
