(Eagle News) — The Senate blue ribbon committee will look into the controversial P60-million advertisement placement deal between the Department of Tourism then-headed by Wanda Teo and Bitag Unlimited Inc., her brother’s company.
According to Richard Gordon, chair of the panel, they will use as evidence the Commission on Audit report that red-flagged the project.
“Di kami basta nag-iimbestiga. Siyempre kinukuha muna namin yung facts of the case, any applicable laws,” he said.
He said even then, “it would appear na itong kaso na ito appears to be an open-and-shut case.”
He noted that there was obvious conflict of interest, as the deal was bagged by Ben Tulfo’s BMUI.
Tulfo is the brother of Teo.
“Mali pa yung kanilang procurement rules na finollow,” Gordon said in a radio interview.
“Kung talagang tutuosin, pwede nang i-file ito. Hinog na ito. I-file na kaagad sa Ombudsman,” he said.
He said the hearings would also focus on the questionable contracts entered into by Teo and Cesar Montano, former Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer. Meanne Corvera
