Senate may re-open Mamasapano massacre probe after Ombudsman tags Aquino for graft

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Senate is considering re-opening the investigation regarding the Mamasapano massacre after the Office of the Ombudsman decided to file charges of graft and usurpation of authority against former President Benigno Aquino III for his role in the event.

“Why is it when powerful people are involved, they hesitate to let the truth come out?” Gordon asked.

Senate Committee on Justice Chairman Richard Gordon said that the truth still has to be revealed regarding the Mamasapano massacre.

Gordon also said that the cases filed by the Office of Ombudsman against former President Aquino are weak.

“I woud have filed graver charges, multiple homicide through reckless imprudence,” he said

“Nobody will be exempted from this… He has to man up and face the consequences,” Gordon added in a separate interview.
