“Distractions, silly accusations, fake news.”

This was how Tito Sotto on Thursday, May 24, described criticisms he should not hold the  post of Senate president because of his alleged lack of qualifications.

Sotto replaced Koko Pimentel, who stepped down after 15 senators signed a resolution seeking for a Senate reorganization and electing him as their new leader.

Senator Gringo Honasan, who was one of the 15 who signed the resolution, said the idea was to ensure “continuity,” given Pimentel’s plans to run for reelection in 2019.

According to Sotto, he would much rather “remain positive,” even as he lamented that some people “did not move on” from his being a “good actor and comedian.”

“I no longer want to pay attention to distractions…I’d like to focus on my job..Karamihan naman ng mga accusations na binabaot nila are silly accusations or fake news,” he said.

“Kahit 160+ ang batas na nagawa mo, at ang karaniwang nangyayari sa pamumuhay mo eh dahil sa taong ‘yun, ang naaalala mo pa rin yung dati, ibig sabihin ganun sila kagaling… it’s a compliment, I should treat it as a compliment” he added.
