The Senate scheduled on Thursday, November 12 its inquiry into the “bullet-planting” extortion scheme at the country’s airports.
Sen. Serge Osmeña said he invited Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Josel Angel Honrado to attend the inquiry.
Osmeña also said he would also invite supposed victims of “bullet-planting” and the aviation security group to answer inquiries on the issue.
“We want to find out ano istorya dyan gusto namin malaman bakit ang mga victim nyo halos Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Kawawa naman sila nawalan ng trabaho sa Hong Kong, she could have been lost her job,” Sen. Serge Osmeña said.
He believes a syndicate is behind the bullet planting extortion scheme.
“We want to have their own stories on record naawa ako lalo na sa OFW na mga nabibiktima ng sindikato na ito and we want to expose and put pressure on those responsible allowing this to happen,” Sen. Osmeña added.
Reports said bullet planting victims increased from only 12 in 2014 to 115 cases this year. (Eagle News Service)
