Senator Nancy Binay recommended that instead of total closure of Boracay to tourists, there should be a limited entry of tourists to the island.
The senator explained that many would be affected if Boracay is totally closed, especially the 17, 000 workers depending on tourism.
Aside from limiting tourist entry into the island, the senator also suggested that those who did not comply with the requirements of environmental laws be closed down.
Last week, the senator expressed her concerns about the condition of Boracay, and encouraged stakeholders to help the government to do their part in helping the island to heal and recover.
She also suggested that the establishments that violated the environmental laws should carry out self-demolition of the illegal structures.
If this is done, the lawmaker said this would be a big help in reviving Boracay.
