Senator Gordon to file ethics case vs “out of order” Trillanes

(Eagle News) — Senator Richard Gordon said he would file an ethics case against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who he said was “out of order” in Thursday’s hearing into the P6.4-billion drug shipment that entered  the country via Customs express lanes.

“This gentleman has been accusing everybody in the Senate of everything. In the past he got away. I am asking the majority leader to convene the ethics committee and I will personally file an ethics case personally vs the gentleman from Bicol,” Gordon said, after Trillanes indirectly accused Gordon of “badgering” fixer Mark Taguba.

Trillanes continued to interject, which prompted Gordon to order him to “behave himself, otherwise the Sergeant at Arms (will act).”

“Regarding your..irrational behavior you’ve been doing a one-man show and a monologue for several hours. I believe that’s not normal?” Trillanes shot back.

To which Gordon replied: “I will not answer. I will not dignify all your statements..Everytime he doesn’t like something, he will conduct another coup,” Gordon said, referring to Trillanes’ role in a coup d’etat of junior military officers in Oakwood in Makati in 2003.

Trillanes interjected: “And kayo, nagbarricade kayo sa Subic to hold on to power.”

At this point, Senator majority leader Tito Sotto told the senators to settle down, noting that behavior, particularly that of Trillanes, was already “unparliamentary.”

Sotto then called for the suspension of the hearing for a few minutes.
