Senator Honasan seeks Sandiganbayan nod for HK trip

(Eagle News) — Senator Gringo Honasan on Tuesday asked the Sandiganbayan to allow him to go on a four-day trip to Hong Kong.

In a motion for an allow departure order, Honasan said the trip from March 15 to 18 was upon invitation by the Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. – Hong Kong Executive Council (PGBI).

He said he would serve as speaker in the PGBI-organized seminars aimed at raising awareness about the plight of Overseas Filipino Workers on March 16 and 17.

The remaining two days were to allow him to travel and check in and out from the hotel where he will be staying.

“Accused Honasan undertakes that the aforesaid  travel is not for the purpose of absconding or evading prosecution of his case pending before this honorable court…,” he said.

Honasan is facing cases over his alleged anomalous use of his Priority Development Assistance Funds worth P29.1 million in 2012.
