Senator Trillanes threatens to cite Customs Chief Faeldon in contempt

(Eagle News) – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday threatened to cite Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon  in contempt after he refused to answer questions on corruption in the Bureau of Customs.

Faeldon said he would not answer the question because “In the past few days, the honorable senator has come up with a lot of accusations already that I am in the middle of the smuggling of shabu in the country.”

“It is pointless for me to answer these questions because he has already come up with a conclusion already,” Faeldon added.

It was at this point when Trillanes threatened to cite him in contempt.

Senator Richard Gordon, committee chair, also called out Faeldon.

“Kung kayo may alitan,  huwag mo dalhin yung alitan mo dito,” he said.

The committee chair called for a recess and approached Faeldon, who appeared to be wiping off tears.

Trillanes and Faeldon both took part in the so-called Oakwood Mutiny in 2003 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007.
