QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Several senators conducted an ocular inspection in Boracay, looking at business establishments that may have violated environmental laws.
Senator Cynthia Villar led the ocular inspection.
Before this, Villar in a radio interview said that she was not in favor of suggestions to close down all businesses in the area. She said she would rather close down only those that are not compliant to environmental and building laws.
Meanwhile, Senator Sonny Angara said that before the proposed rehabilitation, the government should give aid to workers who would lose their jobs due to the scheduled six-month clean-up of the renowned island.
