(Eagle News) – Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno reported back to work on Wednesday morning, May 9, at the Supreme Court.
“The Chief Justice is already inside her office. She arrived around 7:30AM. She’s back to work now,” said one of her spokespersons, Atty. Jojo Lacanilao, on Wednesday.
Sereno, was pressed to go on “indefinite leave” by other justices of the high court on March 1, in the midst of various controversies she was facing in relation to the impeachment complaint filed against her by Atty. Larry Gadon.
Sources said Sereno herself called up Acting Supreme Court Chief Justice Antonio Carpio and told him that she was reporting back to work.
Sereno went back to work on Wednesday, a few days before the Supreme Court is expected to announce a decision on the quo warranto petition filed against her by the Office of the Solicitor General.
The Supreme Court had already issued an advisory to media that it would be holding an En Banc session on Friday, May 11, at 10 a.m., on the quo warranto case against Sereno.
The SC said it might hold a media briefing after Friday’s En Banc session.
