(Eagle News)–Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will still attend the April 10 oral argument set for her quo warranto case even if the Supreme Court does not act on her manifestation that five justices inhibit themselves.
This is according to Josa Deinla, SC spokesperson, who gave a radio interview on Sunday.
“Talagang nagpasya si Chief Justice na pupunta siya personal at aattend sa hearing,” Deinla said.
Deinla reiterated however that Sereno was not acknowledging that the SC had jurisdiction over the quo warranto petition.
Sereno has asked five justices, Teresita de Castro, Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Francis Jardeleza, and Noel Tijam to inhibit from the case citing their alleged bias against her.
On Saturday, the Coalition for Justice also asked the High Court to direct the five to inhibit if they do not inhibit themselves.
The quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida sought to nullify Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice.
