MILAGROS, Masbate (Eagle News) — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) declared that shellfish from Milagros Bay, Masbate free from red tide toxins.
But the areas in Western Samar (Irong-Irong Bay, Maqueda Bay, Villareal Bay, and Daram Island), Eastern Samar (Matarinao Bay), Leyte (Carigara Bay), Palawan (Inner Malampaya Sound, Taytay, Puerto Princesa Bay, Puerto Princesa City) and the coastal waters of Mandaon in Masbate remain contaminated with paralytic shellfish toxins.
However, the agency said that squids, fish, shrimps, and crab came from the said areas can still be eaten as long as they are well cooked.
