(Eagle News)—The 16-year-old girl who was found dead in a vacant lot in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Monday, March 11, probably knew her killer.
This is according to Police Colonel Lemuel Obon, chief of the Lapu-Lapu police, who gave an interview over GMA’s Unang Balita on Thursday, March 14.
“I think so kasi may nakuha kamin na exchange of messages na meron siyang kakatagpuin,” Obon said when asked.
So far, Obon said the police were looking at three suspects.
The men, he had said, were the last people to be seen with Silawan, a Grade 9 student, based on testimonies from several witnesses.
He said he believed the mutilation of the girl was also “deliberate.”
When found, Silawan’s tongue was missing, according to the authorities, and her head had been skinned, exposing her skull.
Several reports said some of her organs were also missing.
President Rodrigo Duterte himself has condemned the killing.
Following the killing, the Department of Education also reminded schools anew to strengthen their security to ensure the safety of students.
