All eyes will be at the Mall of Asia Arena tonight for a crucial Game 4 of the semifinals series between SMC sister teams San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at 7:00 p.m.
Reigning 4-time MVP Junemar Fajardo will try to lead a star-studded Beermen squad to a commanding 3-1 series lead and inch closer to a fourth straight Phillipine Cup Finals appearance.
But they might have to do so without flashy and reiging Defensive Player of the Year Chris Ross who may not play tonight after suffering a hamstring injury in Game 3.
Ross did not play in the 2nd half of Game 3 which San Miguel ended up losing against Ginebra.
But in a positive development for the Beermen, former MVP Arwind Santos will suit up for tonight’s ballgame after avoiding suspension for his post-match comments against game officials and for his flagrant foul against Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar in Game 3 last Tuesday.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial slapped Santos with a P20,000 fine for “statements detrimental to the league” following San Miguel’s Game 3 loss against Ginebra.
He was also fined an additional P5,000 for his flagrant foul against Aguilar.
Barangay Ginebra meanwhile will try to avoid going down 1-3 against the defending 3-time All-Filipino champs.
There are some reports that 7-foot center Greg Slaughter will make his semis debut for Ginebra tonight which will greatly help the Gin Kings cause.
The Ginebra center suffered an injury late in the elimination round and has not seen any action this playoffs.
