Soldiers injured in landmine clearing operations

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Two unidentified soldiers were injured after they stepped on a landmine during combat clearing operations in Basilan.

The soldiers were rushed to the Camp Navarro General Hospital in the Armed Forces of the Philippines Western Mindanao Command.

The combat clearing operations were conducted immediately after the encounter between the military and the Abu Sayyaf in the area.

The conduct was to ensure that there were no enemy combatants left in the vicinity.
