QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Kabayan Party-List Representative Harry Roque is mulling filing a bill for the formation of a Truth Commission that will look into how the Marcos family came across their wealth.
“Nag-iisip po ako at nag-aaral ngayon maghain ng isang panukalang batas na bumubuo (noon)….For historical reasons, para malaman natin ang katotohanan,” he said.
Roque made the announcement after President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, August 29, revealed that the Marcoses had agreed to “bring back..even a few gold bars,” among others, to the government.
The President, however, did not give a specific figure.
“They said they’ll open everything and probably return the ones that were discovered. They said, ‘You have a big deficit… Maybe this year, the projected deficit spending would be big. It might help. … it’s not that big… but we are ready to open and bring (it) back,” the President had said.
