(Eagle News)–Senate President Tito Sotto expects President Rodrigo Duterte’s first report on the government coronavirus disease 2019 response to include three things.
According to Sotto, these were the government’s actions on the distribution of financial aid to the 18 million families in the informal sector; mass testing, especially in urban areas; and prioritization of the safety and welfare of frontline health workers.
Sotto issued the statement on the day the President was supposed to submit the report, based on the Bayanihan We Heal As One law that granted him additional powers to address the crisis.
The law also grants the President the authority to realign items in the national budget for COVID-19 response.
A Joint Congressional Oversight Committee shall review President Duterte’s weekly reports.
Duterte has imposed an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to contain COVID-19.
